- Using the MC16 on the
bedside table
The MC16 is a many talented companion.
I´ve tried the following Bedside Uses
for it with great success.
- It can read me to sleep
The program Book Worm (ICL Softtech) is a very
nice text browser with the very interesting
options of automatic scrolling and that it can
show the text in vertikal lines across the
screen. It allows you to place the MC16 on your
bedside table, start the scrolling, and then you
can read in a very comfortable way. A good idea
is to turn your bedside table lamp off, and use
the screen ilumination of the MC16 with a lights
off setting of 5 minutes, and to have the charger
connected while reading, since it is very easy to
fall asleep during the reading :-) Free
literature in text file format can be found at
the following sites: Lysator (Swedish books) , Gutenberg.
- I can draw pictures or
make notes on the screen
which is convenient if I get a good ide while
still in bed. I like the program "One Cat
Doodler" from
One Man and a Cat Software. I´ve used it for most of the sketches
on these MC16 pages.
- It´s alarmclock can wake
me up
There is allready an alarm clock in the
MC16 that works even if the MC16 is off.
However, if You download the freeware clock
program De Clock, it transforms the MC16 into a
clock with BIG enough digits that even I can se
them in my morning punchdrunk state...
- It can be my morning
newspaper
If you connect the MC16 to an ordinary
telephone modem , it is the easiest thing in the
world to surf to the homepage of any large
newspaper without leaving the bed :-)
I prefer the newspaper "Svenska
Dagbladet" because they have a large enough
typeface that I can read it on the MC16 screen
easily.
